Articles of Faith
ARTICLE I - SCRIPTURESWe believe that the Scriptures as originally written are verbally inspired of God without any admixture of error in their substance, and that they were written by holy men of God who spoke as they were moved by the Holy Spirit, and that they are final in authority in all matters of conduct and doctrine. (II Timothy 3:16; II Peter 1:19-21) ARTICLE II - TRINITY OF THE GODHEADWe believe in the Trinity of the Godhead: one God eternally existing in three equal Persons - Father, Son, and the Holy Spirit. (Matthew 28:19; I John 5:7; John 10:30) ARTICLE III - PERSON AND MINISTRY OF CHRIST1. His Deity - John 1:1; John 10:30; John 1:14. 2. His Virgin Birth - Luke 1:35; Matthew 1:23; Isaiah 7:14. 3. His Sinless Life - Hebrews 4:15. 4. His Substitutionary Death - II Corinthians 5:21; Romans 5:19; I Corinthians 15:3. 5. His Bodily Resurrection - Acts 1:3; I Corinthians 15:12-23. 6. His Imminent, Premillennial Coming - I Thessalonians 4:16, 17; Matthew 24:25. ARTICLE IV - PERSONALITY AND WORK OF THE HOLY SPIRITJohn 14:16, 17 1. He Calls - II Timothy 1:9. 2. He Regenerates - Titus 3:5. 3. He Baptizes - I Corinthians 12:12,13. 4. He Indwells - I Corinthians 6:19, 20. 5. He Seals - Ephesians 1:13. 6. He Fills - Ephesians 5:18. 7. He Teaches - John 14:26. ARTICLE V - CREATIONJohn 1:3 We believe in the direct creation of the universe and man by God apart from any process of evolution. 1. Creation of Universe - Genesis 1:1; Isaiah 45:18. 2. Creation of Man - Genesis 2:7. ARTICLE VI - TOTAL DEPRAVITY OF MANWe believe that man through his own choice, at the temptation of the Devil, sinned and thus alienated himself and all the human race from God (Genesis 3:17; Romans 5:18) that the wages of sin is death and that man is totally unable to save himself (Romans 6:23; Titus 3:5). ARTICLE VII - ETERNAL SALVATIONWe believe in the eternal salvation of all individuals who are truly born again by putting their trust in the Lord Jesus Christ, Whose Blood was shed for the remission of sins. (John 1:12, 13; John 3:3; John 6:47; John 10:27-29; I John 5:11-13) ARTICLE VIII - ATONEMENT FOR SINWe believe that Christ, being obedient unto death (Philippians 2:6-8) made a full and vicarious atonement for our sins through His shed blood. (I Corinthians 15:3; II Corinthians 5:21; Romans 5:8-9; Ephesians 1:7; Colossians 1:14; Hebrews 9:22; I Peter 1:18-19; I John 1:7) ARTICLE IX - BODY OF CHRISTWe believe that the Body of Christ is composed of all true believers, of which Christ is the head. (I Corinthians 12:12-13; Ephesians 1:22-23; Colossians 1:18; Revelation 19:7-8) ARTICLE X - LOCAL CHURCHWe believe that a local church is a company of baptized believers, associated by a covenant of faith and fellowship of the Gospel; observing the ordinances of Christ; governed by His laws; and exercising the gifts, rights and privileges invested in them by His Word. We hold that the local church has the absolute right of self-government, free from the interference of any hierarchy of individuals or organizations, and that it is independent, but should fellowship with other churches of like faith, however, with the Local Church being the Sole Judge of the measure and method of its cooperation on all matters, and that the will of the Local Church is final. (Acts 2:41-42, 47; 11:26; I Corinthians 11:2; Ephesians 1:22-23; Ephesians 4:11; Colossians 1:18; Ephesians 5:23-24) ARTICLE XI - ORDINANCESBAPTISM - We believe that believer's baptism is the immersion of a believer in water to show forth in a solemn and beautiful emblem our faith in the crucified, buried, and risen Savior, and that it is to be administered in the name of the Father, of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. This ordinance is for believers only and it is a prerequisite for church membership. (Matthew 28:19; Acts 8:36-39; Acts 9:18-20; Matthew 3:1-17; Romans 6:2-4) LORD'S SUPPER - We believe it is the commemoration of our Lord's death until He comes and our continual fellowship with Him, and that it should be preceded by baptism and always by careful self-examination, remembering ever that it is the Lord's Supper and not the table of the church. (I Corinthians 11:23-32; Matthew 26:26-29) ARTICLE XII - SEPARATIONWe believe the Bible commands true Christians to separate themselves from all worldliness and ecclesiastical apostasy and that such separation is in obedience to God and His Word. 1. From Worldliness - I John 2:15-17. 2. From Apostasy - I John 4:1; II Corinthians 6:11-18. ARTICLE XIII - ANGELS, DEMONS, SATANWe believe in the personal existence of angels, demons, and Satan. 1. Angels - Luke 22:43. 2. Demons - Luke 8:26-39. 3. Satan - Mark 1:13. ARTICLE XIV - RAPTUREWe believe in the bodily resurrection, immortality and rapture of all believers at Christ's imminent coming. 1. Bodily resurrection - I Thessalonians 4:13-16; I Corinthians 15:20-23, 35-38, 41-44. 2. Immortality - I Corinthians 15:51-57. 3. Rapture - I Thessalonians 4:13-18; I John 3:2. ARTICLE XV - JUDGMENT OF UNBELIEVERSWe believe in the bodily resurrection and judgment of unbelievers after the millennial reign of Christ. (Revelation 20:11-15) ARTICLE XVI - THE SECOND COMING OF CHRISTWe believe in the personal, bodily, Pretribulational and Premillenial return of the Lord Jesus Christ; that He will come before the Tribulation period in the air only, to take away His Church (see Article XIV - Rapture) and that He will come with His saints after the tribulation to judge the living nations and establish His kingdom on the earth (this is called the Millenium). (I Thessalonians 4:13-18; Matthew 25:31-46; Revelation 19:11-21; 20:1-7; II Thessalonians 2:1-4) ARTICLE XVII - ETERNAL EXISTANCE OF ALLWe believe in the eternal life and blessedness of all believers and the eternal existence and punishment of all unbelievers. 1. Believers - John 10:28-29; Romans 8:38-39. 2. Unbelievers - Matthew 25-46; Revelation 20:10-15. ARTICLE XVIII - OF CIVIL GOVERNMENTWe believe that civil government is of divine appointment for the interests and good order of human society; that magistrates are to be prayed for, conscientiously honored and obeyed; except in things opposed of the will of our Lord Jesus Christ, who is the only Lord of the conscience, and the coming prince of the Kings of the earth. (Romans 13:1-7; II Samuel 23:3; Exodus 18:21-22; Acts 23:5; 4:19; 5:20; Matthew 22:21; Daniel 3:17-18; I Timothy 2:1-3)
